The objective of this course is to:

provide access to a range of health studies programmes.

provide an alternative route for those students who do not meet the current entry criteria for the Chiropractic course.

Specifically, it aims to provide students with the basic science background needed to begin a degree course together with a recognized manual qualification, namely the International Therapy Examination Council (ITEC) accredited Diploma in Holistic Massage.

The aims of the course are:

To expose students to scientific principles and basic concepts in the areas of Human Chemistry, Physiology, Biophysics and Anatomy

To demonstrate the academic rigour required to study at degree level

To familiarise students with College resources during independent and group activities

To exposure students to clinical thinking in the context of observations and demonstrations

To provide a means by which the student is able to judge his/her ability to succeed on the chiropractic degree course

To provide a professional qualification that allows the student to practise as an Holistic Massage Therapist

In addition to the McTimoney College certificate, which guarantees an interview for the MChiro programme, students will gain a professional ITEC (International Therapies Examination Council) certificate. This is a holistic massage qualification, which provides a hands-on skill for immediate use.

The course design is based on individual learning with an emphasis on the development of the basic concepts required for any health studies programme, but particularly for the MChiro course. Teaching and learning is formally undertaken through lectures, practical sessions, individual and small group assignments and home study.
