Entry Requirements

The programme is open to applicants meeting one of the following criteria (pathway specific):
The holding of a professional qualification in Osteopathy, Chiropractic or Physiotherapy, which would qualify the holder for registration with the General Osteopathic Council, General Chiropractic Council or Chartered Institute of Physiotherapists as appropriate.

 

OR

 

A member of the Royal Veterinary College of Surgeons.

 

OR

 

The holding of a degree in Animal Science, Equine Science or other University degrees where 80% of the course content includes comparative anatomy, basic physiology and biochemistry.

 

- Students who do not hold formal academic qualifications may apply for this course under the Assessment of Prior Experience and Learning (APEL) system.

 

- All students must satisfy the interviewers of their aptitude for animal work.

- All students must provide evidence of an up-to-date tetanus vaccination and provide adequate personal liability insurance.

 

Year Zero

Those applicants who do not hold a professional qualification in manipulation must successfully complete the College’s pre-course programme, known as Year Zero.  The purpose of this programme is to ensure that all entrants to the MSc have the requisite knowledge of science, research, professionalism and manipulation skills on entry to ensure successful completion of the main programme.

 

Those applicants who hold a professional qualification in manipulation are exempt from all elements of the Year Zero programme, except for the module on safe handling of animals.  All applicants for the MSc must complete the examination for this module, and some applicants may be required to complete the module itself.
